The Fear Of The Lord

As we continue to look at the Book of Haggai in chapter 1 verse 10 we see that the Lord continued to speak to them saying,"Therefore the heavens above you have withheld the dew, and the earth has withheld its produce. And I have called for a drought on the land and the hills, on the grain, the new wine, the oil, on what the ground brings forth,on man and on beast, and all their labors." Then starting in verse 12 we can see that the "remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the Lord their God....and the people feared the Lord."

The people soon began the rebuilding of the temple and they did so because they feared the Lord.  What does it mean to fear the Lord? And why is it so important for us, as believers, to fear Him?  Fearing the Lord is to have a healthy understanding of how big and powerful our God is and how small and weak we are and to have a level of fear, actual fear of Him. Now some of you may not agree...some may say that having a fear of Him means to just respect God, but I am here to tell you that after God struck down Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5) the people didn't just have a respect for God, the Bible says that "a great fear came upon the whole church."

Now Some of you may be wondering what this whole striking down business has to do with homemaking? Well, it actually has alot to do with it. You see, the fear of the Lord is what caused the people of Haggai's time to rebuild the temple and as followers of Christ that same fear of the Lord needs to stir up within us the desire to rebuild our temple. The fear of the Lord should incite in us a desire to put Him first in all that we do.....yes, even conquering the laundry monster! I don't know about you but this has been a struggle for me lately, I have been so guilty of putting everything else before the Lord. I wake up and I think that getting breakfast made and school work done and laundry started is all more pressing that waking up and spending time with the Lord. And maybe like me, you too will have to fall before the Lord and repent of this sin. May we all ask for the grace help us prioritize so that we may have ... A Better Home Of Godliness.

Crowned With Joy!!!
